| SUBJECT: CONFERENCE ON THE CRISIS OF IMPUNITY IN RELATION TO HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES AGAINST THE TRADE UNION MOVEMENT IN COLOMBIA DATE: Tuesday 9th October 2007 VENUE: Auditorium of Amnesty International UK Section In October Eduardo Carreño Wilchez, the current president of the Colectivo de Abogados - CAJAR will be in London. As you will know, ICTUR together with CAJAR, is taking forward a project to challenge the impunity that affects Colombian trade unionists, though the establishment of a Trade Union Rights centre. This Centre is part-funded by Amnesty UK, Unison and LO-Norway. ICTUR, together with Amnesty UK, are convening a conference focused on the impunity in relation to assassinations and other human rights abuses experienced by the Colombian trade union movement. We would like to invite you to join us at this event in order that we can work together to find ways to challenge the impunity confronting the trade union movement, not-governmental human rights organisations and Colombian society in general. This event will to bring together trade union organisations from the UK, Spain, Belgium, and Norway, amongst others, along side lawyers’ associations, juridical activists and non-governmental solidarity and development organisations. The ITUC has also confirmed that it will participate in this event. |
